Why are we running for Rachel?
Rachel House Hudson loved all physical activities. She was involved in track, cheerleading, gymnastics, horseback riding and loved to snowboard, canoe and camp. She even skydived for her 16th birthday.
Rachel attended all 13 years of school at Grain Valley, where she was involved in Future Teaches of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletics, choir, band, cheerleading, track, and National Honors Society. She attended college at Northwest Missouri State University, where she was a varsity cheerleader. Rachel graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Corporate Fitness and became an athletic trainer.
In May of 2002, Rachel married her college sweetheart, David Hudson. One month after her wedding, Rachel’s life ended in an automobile accident as she was driving home from work. Because of her faith in Jesus Christ and the decision to trust Him as her Savior, we know that Rachel is now spending eternity in Heaven.
Each year since her death, faith-based scholarships have been awarded to high school seniors in memory of Rachel. June of 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of her tragic death, and her family wants to honor her memory and increase this scholarship fund. We invite you to come out, run or walk, and share in Rachel’s passion of fitness.
This Memorial Day weekend, please dedicate this run to your own loved one and support this worthy cause, as we join together and run for Rachel.
